Paediatric Picnic in the Park 2026

There is nothing quite like stepping away from the wards and clinics to catch up with colleagues in the fresh air - especially when the British summer decides to fully cooperate!

On Sunday 14th June we gathered at the beautiful Wollaton Park for our annual social picnic. We had a fantastic turnout of around 20 adults, but the real stars of the day were the children. It was wonderful to see so many of our little ones running around and enjoying the sunshine. We were especially delighted to welcome perhaps the very youngest member of our paediatric family, baby Abdi, who stole everyone's hearts!  Our extended family was also represented by some incredibly well-behaved four-legged friends, who thoroughly enjoyed the fuss and the occasional dropped sandwich crumb.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was getting the kids involved in a lively game of cricket. Beyond the games and the food though, the afternoon was a wonderful reminder of the strong community we share. It was truly lovely to catch up with colleagues outside of the busy work environment, chat about life beyond the hospital walls, and simply enjoy each other's company.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, brought delicious food to share, and made the afternoon so special. We are already looking forward to our next get-together!
